Riff Dissection #1 - Fuming Mouth//Daylight Again
Dec 18, 2024This is a super simple metal riff to play, but it sure does pack a punch!
Really focus on locking in with that syncopated groove and getting comfortable holding out the 1st fret power chord on the 2nd upbeat (the "and" of 2). Practice tapping your foot along to the beat and making sure you come back in on time for the 4th upbeat (the "and" of 4).
Be sure to use all downpicking and really chug on the entire chord shapes—Dig in to the lowest two strings as opposed to only hitting the low 6th string during the palm mutes.
The guitar is tuned to C Standard here, but feel free to experiment and play this riff in any tuning you desire.
